Antique Indian Mirror Jali Window Mirror Large Decorative Wrought Iron Raj Era
A hugely impressive, wonderfully decorative and very rare antique Indian Jali Window Mirror in lovely condition. Hailing from the Victorian Raj era, this superb piece is dripping with history and decorative appeal and will be a knockout item in any setting.
Originally this would have been an impressive Jali ironwork fronted window, most likely in situ in a significant building or palace, based on its extraordinary size – this is much larger than most antique Indian mirrors, making it the ideal statement piece.
It is constructed of solid wood and has the original shutters and wrought iron Jali-work façade, used for ventilation and security. The mirrored glass would have been positioned more recently, repurposing this wonderful historical object as an eye-catching statement mirror.
The wood is covered in wonderfully ornate and colourful hand-painted decoration, giving it a superbly decorative appeal, and there are traces of different historical layers of paint with hints of light green, blue and red shades beneath the top layer of maroon and ornate orange, blue and green symbols.
All in all this is a wonderful historical Indian statement mirror. It would look a knockout inside or outside, adding genuine Indian character and beauty to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in good condition. Structurally sound and built to last, the shutters, handles and bolt-lock work as they should and it has lovely traces of its age throughout including knocks and bumps, minor areas of paint flaking and rust to the Jali ironwork façade. Overall it’s a stunning and rare antique statement mirror in lovely condition and if well looked after it should be just fantastic in another 150+ years – please see the photos.

Height - 133cm, Width Open - 160cm, Depth - 7.5cm, Width Closed - 88cm, Est Weight – 60kg – much larger than most antique Indian window mirrors, this is also extremely heavy and built to last.
