Stylish Black Leather Chaise Longue Postmodern Designer Maurice Villency 1980s
A strikingly attractive, rare and super-stylish Postmodern black leather chaise longue in lovely vintage condition. Sold through Maurice Villency NYC in the 1980s, this extremely comfortable designer chaise longue will add sleek lines, superb quality and outstanding executive sophistication to any interior.
Likely made by a high-end fashion house in Italy or France and imported by Villency to retail in his flagship New York store, this stunningly chic chaise longue nods to an early-1980s, understatedly-postmodern design, which merges minimalist Scandinavian Modern design principles with the more eye-catching Postmodernist elements of multiple lines, layering and angles – but without the louder elements sometimes associated with later, bolder postmodern designs.
Upholstered in plush, outstanding quality, piped and stitched, plumply padded and multi-layered black leather, this wonderful chaise longue is super-comfy and features an adjustable footrest and headrest. An outstanding piece, it would look fantastic in almost any setting, from an Upper West Side apartment to a country retreat snug or an executive lobby – wherever its situated, it will add distinguished quality, comfort and class.

CONDITION
This super chaise longue is in good-to-very-good vintage condition. Wonderfully designed and outstandingly crafted, it is reassuringly heavy and extremely comfortable. Expertly crafted and built to last, the leather is in largely excellent condition with only minor to-be-expected marks and wear, including to the rear corners and a hard-to-notice mark beneath the footrest adjuster where it has rubbed when in the overhanging position. There are two small dents to the leather at the the rear leg and back and some hidden tears to the underside lining. The leather has been recently treated to keep it rejuvenated and looking its best. Overall this is a wonderful, much sought after and rare designer chaise longue in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after it should be just as magnificent for decades to come – please see the photos.
