Set of 8 Danish Teak Rosewood Dining Chairs Preben Schou Andersen Scandi 1970s
A strikingly impressive and very rare set of eight Scandinavian Mid-Century dining chairs in lovely vintage condition. A masterclass in Danish Modern design by Preben Schou for high-end manufacturer Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik in the early 1970s, this distinctive and attractive set will add lovely multi-tone colouring, unmistakeable Scandinavian quality and craftsmanship, and a timelessly sophisticated, sculpturally elegant aesthetic to any interior.
Crafted from beautiful, excellent quality solid teak wood and solid rosewood displaying lovely grain patterning and rich hues ranging from golden blonde to dark cherry, these chairs are wonderfully designed to allow them to project a captivating and sculptural silhouette when viewed from any angle.
Preben Schou’s design is a marvellous Mid-Century melange of curves and waves, without a single right-angle. These very comfortable chairs feature statuesque, gently curving high-backs with extremely charming, rounded tops over elegantly contouring back splats. Their streamlined design hints at Organic Minimalism, while the chairs are supported by sturdy and attractive, round-edged tapering legs. The gorgeous pair of rosewood carver armchairs also feature magnificent and show-stopping, flowing arms.
The super-comfy and generously sized, curved and padded seats have been recently professionally reupholstered in a super quality neutral velvety fabric, which ranges from cream to taupe depending on the direction of the nap of the cloth, and which works wonderfully with the rich teak and rosewood tones.
Preben Schou Andersen dining chairs are highly sought after for their excellent quality and design and this two-tone set with carvers is a real gem. All in all this is a fantastic set, which won’t fail to enhance any setting with superb Danish quality, gorgeous colouring and an unmistakeable, knockout look.

CONDITION
These super dining chairs are in very good vintage condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, they are newly upholstered and have only very minor age-related signs of wear, including minor marks and scuffs and a knock and hairline crack to the upper crown of one of the teak dining chairs. Overall they’re a superb set in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after they should be just as marvellous in another 50+ years – please see the photos.
