Rosewood Leather Falcon Chair Sigurd Ressell for Vatne Mobler MCM 1970s Safari
A gorgeous and very rare rosewood and leather Falcon chair in really lovely condition. Designed by esteemed Norwegian Sigurd Ressell and made by Vatne Mobler, most likely in the 1970s, this very comfortable and achingly cool lounge chair will add the quintessential Mid Century Scandinavian chic aesthetic to any interior.
It features the distinctive Sigurd Ressell bentwood base design, which is made of richly hued and beautifully grained rosewood and has the original Vatne Mobler label affixed to the underside. The base supports the generously sized canvas sling seat, held in place by metal clasps and draped in a lovely smart chocolate brown with cream piping one-piece overhanging leather cushion.
All in all this is a stunning, super-comfy and very rare Falcon chair, which will add a wonderful and genuine retro-Scandi look to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in very good vintage condition. Structurally sound, it shows only minor to-be-expected signs of its 40+ years... some minor grazes to the frame and some hard-to-notice light prick marks to the leather on its left flank. Overall it’s a stunning rare chair in lovely condition and if well looked after it should be just as impressive for generations to come – please see the photos.
