Martinelli Serpente Floor Lamp 1960s Italian Designer Mid Century Arc Lamp MCM
A gorgeous, hugely impressive and rare rotating Italian designer Mid Century floor lamp with unique Super-Car-colouring in wonderful condition. One of the Mid Century's coolest lamps, this Serpente Lamp was designed by Italian lighting supremo Elio Martinelli and will add a fantastically cool-chic aesthetic, wonderful Space Age styling, superb quality and Ferrari hues to any interior.
Produced by Martinelli's lighting company Luce Martinelli in the 1960s, this is reassuringly heavy at almost 30kg. The base is extremely heavy to prevent it from tipping, and arms are made of curved tubular aluminium and have a beautifully sleek and curving aesthetic, which looks great from any angle and can be adjusted to your liking.
The upper arm rotates 180 degrees in both directions, giving it a snake-like look and its 'Serpente' name, enabling you to adjust it to make it the perfect reading lamp.
It has the original white acrylic mushroom lampshade and the original paint has been stripped and professionally refinished in metallic blue Ferrari paint, which juxtaposes perfectly with the white lampshade and chrome under-base, giving this ultra-cool floor lamp gives a fantastic new lease of life and a unique and very cool, shimmering look - perfect for this sleek and stylish timeless classic.
All in all this is one of the most stylish Mid Century floor lamps ever produced and with its superb Ferrari colouring, it won't fail to be a knockout and impress in any setting.
CONDITION
This is in very-good-to-excellent condition. Beautifully constructed from excellent cutting-edge materials, it is structurally sound, was built to last and is in good working order with the floor switch and rotating mechanism both in good working order. It has the original gripping rubber foot pad underneath and has been professionally refinished in Ferrari blue paint, with the only very minor and hardly noticeable flaws being some to-be-expected historic minor scratches to the metal under the paint and a few light scuff marks to the acrylic shade, but overall it's in wonderful condition and if well looked after it should remain so for many more decades to come - please see the photos.
