Italian Brass Chair 1950s Hollywood Regency MCM Neoclassical Chiavari Chair

Italian Brass Chair 1950s Hollywood Regency MCM Neoclassical Chiavari Chair

A fabulous Italian brass and pink velvet Chiavari chair in lovely condition. Made around the 1950s in Italy, this stunning chair will add beautiful colouring, fine detail and sophistication to any setting.

Chiavari chairs, also know as Tiffany chairs, were first created in Italy in the early 1800s and this is among the rarer Chiavari designs you’ll see.  This gorgeous Mid Century example perfectly encapsulates the love of Neoclassical finery and bold colours that became so en vogue thanks to the 1950s Hollywood Regency period.

Slight and delicate to the eye but reassuringly heavy, this wonderful occasional, bedroom or side chair is made of beautifully detailed brass and has a pink velvet seat and matching back insert.

All in all this is a fabulous and very attractive chair, which will enhance any interior with knockout colour and more than a touch of sophistication and bygone grandeur.

This is in good-to-very-good vintage condition. Structurally sound, sturdy and reassuringly heavy, the only minor flaws are to-be-expected age-related marks and wear to the brass, and the seat and back upholstery show minor signs of ageing but are perfectly fine; overall it’s a fabulous rare chair in lovely condition and if well looked after it should remain so for generations to come – please see the photos.
