Georgian XL Rosewood Breakfast Table Country House 1830 Circular Dining Table

Georgian XL Rosewood Breakfast Table Country House 1830 Circular Dining Table

An exceptional, gorgeous, extremely rare and staggeringly impressive Georgian rosewood large breakfast/dining/centre table in lovely antique condition. Almost certainly made in England in the Regency/William IV period of the Georgian era around 1830, this magnificent table will enhance any interior with its stunning quality, gorgeous colouring and outstanding bygone Country House aesthetic.

Extremely rare being so large, we’ve never seen another on this scale; it has a diameter of just under 138cm, making it an ideal dining table for large gatherings, seating 8 people comfortably and up to 12 if well acquainted!

This impressively sized and highly figured beauty was crafted from excellent quality and gorgeously toned and grained solid rosewood ranging from gold to dark brown and having an overall beautifully rich ruddy hue. It features an ingenious tilt or ‘snap’ top with a stepped and crossbanded frieze running around the edge, and the top can be raised vertically when not in use and wheeled to the corner of the room, as a stunning space-saver.

If the stupendous size, beautiful rich colouring and stunning grain patterning of the top doesn’t make you instantly fall in love with this table, then the lower half certainly will, as it’s raised on an extremely rare inversely tapering octagonal stepped column with a beautiful triform base and huge lion claw feet over hidden brass barrel castors for ease of moving, making this magnificent, rare beauty quite the scene-stealer!

All in all this is a simply fabulous Georgian breakfast/dining table, which wouldn’t look out of place in the grandest of stately homes and will add outstanding quality, gorgeous colouring and a look of bygone majestic grandeur to any setting.

CONDITION

This is in good-to-very-good antique condition. Incredibly sized, reassuringly heavy and structurally sound, it features an ingenious ‘snap’ top pull-bar release mechanism and has the original brass screws which secure the top in place. It has minor to-be-expected signs of historic dinks and scratches, which are hardly noticeable due to the detailed patterning and colour variation in the rosewood. Overall it's a simply staggering table in lovely antique condition, and if well looked after it should remain so for another 200+ years – please see the photos.
