Fine English Sheraton Revival Regency Antique Mahogany Inlaid Armchair
A very fine Sheraton Revival mahogany inlaid armchair in excellent condition. Made by Jackson Brothers of Leamington Spa in the early 20th Century, this gorgeously distinguished armchair was crafted in the manor of Sheraton and Hepplewhite from the Regency period a century earlier. Extremely impressive, generously sized and very comfortable, this splendid armchair will add elegant beauty, expert craftsmanship, Regency styling and refined Country House quality to any interior.
Wonderfully crafted from beautiful solid mahogany, this superb armchair features beautiful lines and shows detailed craftsmanship throughout. It has a high and generously sized seat upholstered in a beautiful royal blue diamond Regency style pattern and would make a wonderful carver, occasional or library chair.
Its lovely lines include an arched back crest rail, wonderful pierced back banisters with central medallions, beautiful sweeping rounded arms over finely turned arm supports and tapering square front legs with spade feet. The seat has carved detailing and it has boxwood inlay bordering to the arms and back, with a gold and black inlay running along the arms and crest rail and a gold inlay border to the central back banisters.
All in all this is a stunning, elegant, comfortable and generously proportioned very fine Regency style Sheraton Revival armchair, which will add superb finery and craftsmanship to any room.
CONDITION
This is in excellent condition. Structurally sound and excellently made of quality mahogany, the only signs of wear are minor marks and nicks, as you’d expect of a chair of its age. The seat is in excellent condition, has recently been reupholstered and has the Fire Safety Regulations label present and correct to the underside. Overall, it’s a stunningly beautiful chair in really wonderful condition and if well looked after it should remain so for many decades to come – please see the photos.
