Fine Burr Walnut and Mahogany Victorian Antique Desk Dresser Console Table
A rare, superb quality and highly decorative Victorian burr walnut and mahogany desk dresser in lovely condition. Most likely made in Scotland circa 1880, this fabulous and extremely impressive antique is a wonderfully eye-catching and versatile desk/dresser/console table. A feast for the eyes, it will add exemplary Victorian quality, charm and fabulous colour to any interior.
Made of solid mahogany with outstanding burr walnut veneer, this is a very special and fine antique with beautiful rich colouring and wonderfully embellished detailing throughout. Possibly once a dressing table with a central mirror attached, it now serves as a stunning desk, dresser or console table.
Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, it features a stunningly decorative solid mahogany lower frame of substantial finely carved and turned front legs with flat Romanesque back legs over a beautifully shaped substantial carved base, which date this special piece to circa 1880 Scottish.
It has a shapely top and sides with raised rear drawer sections in the Carlton House style of desks, three levels of wonderfully eye-catching carved baluster columns with similar larger columns supporting the upper drawers, two larger main drawers and eight smaller upper drawers, all with the very attractive original brass handles.
Large enough to be used as a laptop or writing desk, this fantastic piece also makes a wonderful dresser or console table and will add knockout Victorian class and quality to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in very good condition. Structurally sound, the only minor flaws are to-be-expected wear to the fabulous walnut veneer, which has been professionally restored. Overall it’s in really lovely and very good condition and if well looked after should be around in another 150 years or more – please see the photos.
