Danish Leather Lounge Chair 1970s Dark Brown Wingback Armchair by Stouby MCM
A strikingly handsome dark brown leather wingback Danish Mid Century designer armchair in good vintage condition. Made by Danish firm Stouby in the 1970s and based on the super-expensive Borge Morgensen 2204 model, this sizeable lounge chair will add super comfort and genuine Mid Century styling to any interior.
Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, this commanding armchair features a beautiful flowing wingback design with a very comfy semi-reclined back position. The broad and generously sized seat and back have plump cushions and the whole chair is upholstered in good quality piped dark chocolate brown leather.
Set on dark brown legs, with the rear legs curving attractively, this is extremely close to the Mogensen 2204 model, but at a fraction of the price. All in all it’s a charming, super-comfy and impressive armchair, which will add genuine Mid Century Scandinavian style to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in good vintage condition. Structurally sound, reassuringly heavy and built to last, it has minor to-be-expected signs of age, including minor marks and blemishes to the leather and some knocks to the legs. The leather has been treated to keep it rejuvenated and looking its best and overall it’s a really striking, extremely comfortable and very impressive rare lounge chair in good vintage condition, and if well looked after it should remain so for another 50+ years – please see the photos.
