Danish Black Leather Armchair Swivel Lounge Chair Georg Thams 1970s MCM Scandi
A very impressive and extremely comfortable rare Danish Mid Century swivel leather armchair in lovely vintage condition. Designed by Georg Thams and made by Danish manufacturer Polstermøbelfabrik in the late 1960s/early 1970s, this strikingly attractive lounge chair is wonderful to sit back and relax in and will add sleek Mid-Century styling and an authentic Scandinavian aesthetic to any interior.
Well-proportioned, impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, this super armchair features a wonderful angular design with broad arms, a winged and semi-reclined back and sloping sides. It has a plump seat cushion and adjoined double back cushion and is mounted on a five-star chromed aluminium swivel base with smart wood veneer tops.
All original and featuring a generously sized seat and broad back, it’s upholstered in excellent quality sleek black leather and has the original black plastic feet glides.
All in all this is a very impressive, attractive and super-comfy rare leather swivel lounge chair by a top Danish designer, which won’t fail to impress and will add genuine Scandinavian Mid Century styling to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in very good vintage condition. Structurally sound, reassuringly heavy and built to last, the only signs of its age are minor to-be-expected cosmetic blemishes and wear. The chrome base is in very good condition with only minor spots of wear and has been cleaned. The swivel action works wonderfully, the leather is in good-to-very-good condition, has been treated to keep it rejuvenated and looking its best and has only minor marks and blemishes including some minor wear to the left armrest. Overall this is a really striking, extremely comfortable and very impressive rare Danish leather swivel lounge chair in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after should remain so for another 50+ years – please see the photos.
