Chinese Hardwood Plant Stands Side Tables Pair Lamp Tables Hongmu Antique Qing
A gorgeous pair of Chinese carved hardwood plants stands or side tables in wonderful antique condition. Made in China, likely in the late 19th/early 20th Century in the late Qing dynasty period, these delightfully decorative and versatile tables will add gorgeous colouring, exceptional quality and sumptuous Oriental elegance to any interior.
Outstandingly crafted from Chinese Hongmu hardwood showing lovely rich colouring and grain patterning, these splendidly charming tables are a great height for side or end tables, or plant or lamp stands. They would have originally been used to display urns or vases and a are a great space-saving way to enhance any room with understated magnificence.
They display outstanding craftsmanship, using hidden joinery, gently curving edging and incised bordering throughout – even for fine Chinese pieces, these are quite exceptionally crafted. They have super mitre-jointed square tops with incised centres above delicately recessed waists over long, square legs terminating in lovely hoofed feet.
Their extremely very attractive four-sided pierce-carved geometric, scrolled spandrel-aprons above lovely humpback lower stretchers make them extremely pleasing to the eye and mark them out as special pieces to be admired.
All in all these are an excellent example of late Qing finery. An exceedingly charming and versatile pair of tables, they won’t fail to add superb Oriental splendour to any setting.
CONDITION
These super tables are in very-good-to-excellent antique condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, they have clearly been well loved, having only the most minor marks and bumps to show their age. We quite like the fact that one table is slightly darker and distinctively hued than the other, which is more noticeable under certain lighting conditions. Overall they’re a delightful pair of tables in wonderful condition and if well looked after they should be just as fabulous for many generations to come – please see the photos.
