Bent Bros Rocking Chair Windsor Chair MCM Hitchcock Chair Mid Century Arrowback
A gorgeous rare vintage American Hitchcock style rocking chair in lovely condition. Made by esteemed American furniture makers Bent Brothers, most likely around the middle of the 20th Century, this charmingly attractive and very comfortable rocking chair will add super craftsmanship and colouring, wonderful historical appeal and an outstanding homely country feel to any interior.
Reassuringly heavy and made of solid ash wood showing lovely grain patterning and beautifully aged rich honey-gold colouring, this rocking chair displays outstanding craftsmanship throughout.
It features stunning rare arrow-back spindles below a large shapely crest rail in the Hitchcock style. It has curved arms and the arms supports, spindles and legs are secured into the thick and spacious seat in the Windsor chair style. The legs and front stretch feature the attractive notched Bent Bros grooves and it is set on sleigh feet that allow for a very relaxing rocking motion.
All in all this is a beautifully crafted and very comfortable vintage rocking chair, which won’t fail to impress or add a wonderful bygone farmhouse feel to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in very good vintage condition. Structurally sound, it shows only minor to-be-expected signs of its 50+ years. Overall it’s a stunning rare chair in lovely condition and if well looked after it should be just as impressive for generations to come – please see the photos.
