Antique Inlaid Mahogany Astragal Cabinet & Console Table Matching Art Nouveau
A gorgeous, impressive and very rare antique matching pair of inlaid mahogany Astragal glaze cabinet and console table in really lovely condition. Most likely made in England in the late Victorian / early Edwardian Art Nouveau period, this beautiful pair can be used with one on top of the other or with the cabinet wall-mounted and they will add wonderful craftsmanship, colouring and bygone sophistication to any interior.
Made of beautiful richly-toned quality mahogany, this pair has fabulously detailed golden boxwood inlays and displays beautiful craftsmanship throughout. The table has stunning square reeded legs with very decorative matching feet and finials and recessed panelling with boxwood inlaid bordering and the central inlaid shell motif to match the cabinet above. The top of the table has reeded edges and a wonderfully intricate boxwood inlaid border.
The matching cabinet features outstanding Astragal glazed lockable doors and has three shapely height-adjustable shelves. It has reeded side balusters to match the table legs and beautiful boxwood inlay bordering and detailing throughout, including the central shell motif below eye-catching dogtooth-patterned detailing to the shapely crown.
The cabinet has felt on the underside as it has most recently been used standing on the table, but it could also be used wall-mounted above the table to make the most of the table, as was probably originally intended.
All in all this is a fabulous and rare pair of outstanding quality, which will be a knockout and add stunning quality, colour, class and craftsmanship to any setting.
CONDITIONThis pair are in very-good-to-excellent condition, especially for the age and the detailing they display. The glass is in outstanding condition with no scratches or cracks and the only minor flaws are the odd to-be-expected blemish, nick and scratch and an historic and well-done repair to the left hand side of the crown of the cabinet, which you have to look for to notice. The left door has top and bottom locks with the right door having a latch lock adjoining the left one. We would recommend that the cabinet is wall-mounted or at least affixed to the wall if sitting on the table as with both doors fully open it leans forward. Overall this is a fabulous pair in really wonderful condition and if well looked after they should be just as impressive in many more decades if not centuries to come - please see the photos.MEASUREMENTSTotal Height - 172cm, Total Width - 84cm, Total Depth - 28cm, Total Weight - 21kg.Cabinet Height - 97cm, Cabinet Width - 84cm, Cabinet Depth to top - 22.5cm, Cabinet Depth to bottom - 19.5cm, Shelves Max Width x Depth - 73x14.5cm, Cabinet Weight - 14kg.Table Height - 75cm, Table Width - 82cm, Table Depth - 28cm, Table Weight - 7kg.DELIVERY
