Antique Chinese Square Lamp Table Red Elm Stool Shanxi Province Stool 1900 Jumu

A rare and very attractive antique Chinese lamp table in lovely condition. Likely dating from the end of the Qing Dynasty or earlier, this charmingly attractive and practical table will enhance any interior with its traditional quality design, rich colouring and bygone Eastern aesthetic. 
 
Likely made in Shanxi Province towards the end of the 1800s and possibly originally purposed as a stool, this charming and practical square side table was crafted from Jumu or Southern Elm wood and shows lovely grain patterning and colouring. 
 
Beautifully crafted, it features a mitre-joined square top with a central inlay above a recessed waist with incised carving and rounded shoulders with scroll carvings to each side. The sturdy square legs end in horse hoof feet and are joined by mitre-joined square stretchers. 
 
Reassuringly heavy and made using traditional joinery, this delightful table displays gorgeous rich Jumu grain pattern and rich ruddy-chocolate hues.
 
All in all this is a very rare and extremely attractive antique Chinese side, coffee or lamp table, or even a stool, which will enhance any setting with its bygone quality.  
 
CONDITION
This is good-to-very-good condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, it has to-be-expected marks to show its age and minor historic woodworm marks, a few to the outside but mainly to the underside, for which the whole table has been treated for good measure. Overall it's a stunning rare antique table in really lovely condition and if well looked after it should be just as impressive for generations to come – please see the photos.
