Antique Chess Table Inlaid Mahogany Regency Style Tilt Top Boxwood Edwardian

A very attractive and decorative antique tilt-top inlaid mahogany chess table in lovely condition. Likely made in Britain in the early 1900s Edwardian era, in the style of the earlier Regency period, this charming games table would also make a super sofa table or lamp table and will add beautiful colouring and bygone elegance to any interior.    
 
Made of solid mahogany, the shapely Regency-style top is of carved sapele or pinstripe mahogany and has a lovely inlaid chess board of vibrant boxwood and counter-grain mahogany sections, set within with a dark fruitwood border. 
 
The top is set on a very attractively turned central pedestal column over a sweeping Regency-style quadriform base, the legs having lovely reeded detailing to match the edge of the table top, and the tilt-top has a release mechanism to set it to vertical when required. 
 
All in all this is an extremely charming and versatile antique chess table, which won’t fail to add beautiful colouring and turn-of-the-century craftsmanship and refinement to any setting. 
 
CONDITION
This is in very good antique condition. Structurally sound, beautifully crafted and built to last, the tilt-top catch mechanism works wonderfully and as it should and the table has only very minor to-be-expected signs of its considerable age. Overall it’s a beautiful side/chess table in lovely condition and if well looked after it should remain so for another 100+ years – please see the photos.
