18th Century Rocking Chair Lancashire Rustic Fireside English Antique Farmhouse
An attractive and very rare 18th Century English rocking chair in lovely original condition. Made in Lancashire, most likely in the latter half of the 1700s, this quintessential 'Olde English Antique' rocking chair will enhance any interior with its fabulous original features, rich colouring and genuine bygone antique styling.
Made of ash and elm woods in lovely condition and showing beautiful wear and patination, this is a super example of bygone craftsmanship. It features the distinctive Lancashire back with 12 exquisitely turned spindles between intersecting bowed rails beneath the beautiful carved top rail.
It has a rush woven seat and 18th Century double-notching to the turned front stretcher between the chunky rounded turned front legs, while the rounded double side stretchers sit above the lovely rocking feet.
All in all this is a super 18th Century rocking chair. Dripping with age and antique rustic antique charm, it makes the ideal fireside companion and will add a beautiful bygone look to any setting.
CONDITION
This is in good condition, especially for its age. Structurally sound and sturdy, it appears to be all original and intact and shows only minor to-be-expected cosmetic signs of its considerable age. Overall it’s a super rare chair in lovely condition and if well looked after it should remain so for generations or centuries more – please see the photos.
